About Recall Canary
Recall Canary (recallcanary.com) is an independent website that puts U.S. product recalls from the FDA, USDA FSIS, CPSC and NHTSA in one place, starting with recalls from 2026: for the FDA, every recall the FDA first published on or after January 1, 2026, even if the company began it earlier; for USDA FSIS, CPSC and NHTSA, recalls announced on or after January 1, 2026 that reached us within 180 days of the announcement. We write plain-English titles and summaries from the agencies’ notices with the help of AI, and every recall page links to the agency’s own notice. The risk level on a recall comes from the agency that issued it, never from Recall Canary (how risk is rated). Recall Canary is not affiliated with any government agency.
How to cite
For a chart, table or story that uses our recall data, credit:
Source: Recall Canary (recallcanary.com) analysis of FDA, USDA FSIS, CPSC and NHTSA recall data.
Please link to the recall page you used, not only to the home page. To cite one page:
“{Page title}.” Recall Canary. {Page address}. Accessed {date}.
Reusing our text and the records
Recall records the agencies write are U.S. government works, so they are in the public domain in the United States (17 U.S.C. § 105). Some notices the FDA posts are announcements written by the recalling company; those words are the company’s, and we quote them as published.
Recall Canary’s own text, such as our titles, summaries and “What to do” steps, is free to reuse under the CC BY 4.0 license if you: credit “Recall Canary” and link to the page you copied it from; note the date and time you copied it; and, where you reuse text AI helped write, say so. The full terms are in the data license.
Data and feeds
- A JSON API for the recall data, documented in its OpenAPI description.
- The RSS feed of the newest recalls. Narrow it with
category, agency, severity, hazard, firm, stateor a search,q, for example/rss.xml?category=FOOD. - An MCP server for AI tools, at

What we never do
- Assign a risk level. Every level comes from the agency that issued the recall; a recall the agency did not rate shows none.
- Present our text as the agency’s. Our summaries are marked as ours, every recall page links the agency’s notice, and if the two ever disagree, the notice is right.
