CPSC recall,
Melissa & Doug Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board
The fire truck activity board can detach, posing a choking hazard.
What happened
Melissa & Doug, of Wilton, Connecticut, is recalling the Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board toy because the fire hose port can come loose and detach, posing a risk of serious injury from choking hazard. The firm has received 26 reports of the small port coming loose on the product and one report of a minor cut. The recall involves about 84,000 toys sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide and on Target.com from July 2025 through August 2026 for about $30.
The toy is a compact fire engine with spinning wheels, busy board activities that activate lights and sounds, made of red plastic with four black wheels, a white plastic rotating ladder, and a black plastic connector that looks like a fire hose. It measures 10.5 inches high by 14.31 inches wide by 3.06 inches deep and weighs about 1.6 pounds.
"Melissa & Doug" is embossed on the battery compartment box on the bottom, along with two date wheels showing the manufacturer's year and month. The product was made in China and imported by Melissa & Doug.
Consumers will be asked to remove the batteries, write "RECALL" in permanent marker on the front of the product along with a unique code provided during online registration, cut the black hose off, and upload a photograph of the destroyed product to the registration page. Once registration is confirmed, consumers should dispose of the product in ordinary household trash. Remedy options include refund or replacement.
