What happened

Salvia Cosmeceuticals, with distributor Linkers of India, recalled Organic Zing Birch Essential Oil Bottles on February 5, 2026, because the bottles are not child-resistant, violating the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).

The essential oil contains methyl salicylate, which must be in child-resistant packaging, and the lack of such packaging poses a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. No incidents have been reported. About 940 bottles were sold on Amazon.com from January 2024 through November 2025 for about $20.

The recalled essential oil comes in amber bottles with black continuous thread caps and a beige and green label with white and black labeling. The front of the bottle shows the Organic Zing logo, "Birch Oil" and "Pure & Natural." The beige and green box packaging also displays the Organic Zing logo and "Pure & Natural" on the front, with "Made in India" on the back. The product was made in India.

Consumers should immediately secure the recalled bottles out of the sight and reach of children and contact Linkers for a full refund and instructions on destroying the recalled bottles.
