What happened
Hometown Food Company of Chicago, Illinois, initiated a limited, voluntary recall of a single lot code of its Birch Benders 12oz Sweet Potato Pancake Mix on May 20, 2026, because it may contain undeclared egg.
The recall, done in cooperation with Element Food Solutions, covers 5,340 cases of the mix, which were distributed to Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. The FDA added the recall to its Enforcement Report on June 2, 2026.
