What to do

If you are using a loaner MiniMed 640G insulin pump, contact Medtronic MiniMed immediately to arrange for a replacement pump. Do not attempt to clean the pump with any products other than those specified in the user manual. Monitor your blood glucose levels closely and seek medical attention if you experience symptoms of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Medtronic MiniMed is recalling loaner MiniMed 640G insulin pumps (models MMT-1711 and MMT-1712) because they may have been cleaned with chemically incompatible products, which could damage the pump case or keypad, allow moisture ingress, and cause insulin over- or under-delivery, potentially leading to hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, or diabetic ketoacidosis.
