Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2026 Explorer vehicles because the windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle during manufacturing, allowing it to detach in a crash. This fails to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 212, "Windshield Mounting," and windshield detachment can increase the risk of injury. The recall affects 8 vehicles nationwide.

The issue was reported to NHTSA on January 21, 2026. Dealers will remove and replace the windshield, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 30, 2026.
