What happened
Hiab USA Inc. is recalling certain Waltco MDV series liftgates because the deck pins may break, resulting in the liftgate platform falling. A liftgate that falls unexpectedly increases the risk of injury. The recall was reported to NHTSA on May 13, 2026, and affects 168 units nationwide.
Hiab will inspect the platform bushings and hydraulic systems and replace the deck pins, free of charge. Hiab will work with vehicle manufacturers to repair the vehicles.
