What happened

Ricon Corporation is recalling certain R1200 series 6-Way and 4-Way Power Transfer Seat Base (PTSB) motorized seat bases. The PTSB gear motor may fail to lock the seat in place when certain forces are applied, so these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 207, "Seating Systems." A seat that moves may not properly restrain the occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The recall was reported to NHTSA on March 31, 2026, and affects 1,820 units nationwide. The remedy is currently under development. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed April 14, 2026, and another notice will be sent once the final remedy becomes available.
