CPSC recall,

NTI and HTP Residential Gas Boilers

The condensate dish inside NTI and HTP residential gas boilers can crack, allowing unburned gas to build up and posing risks of fire, CO poisoning.

What happened

Ariston Canada Inc., formerly NTI Boilers Inc., is recalling NTI and HTP residential gas boilers because the condensate dish inside the boiler can crack during a delayed ignition, allowing unburned gas to build up inside the sealed cabinet.

If the gas ignites, the front cover can suddenly detach, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire, carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, and impact hazards. The firm has received 34 reported incidents of the condensate dish breaking, including three reports of the front cover detaching from the boiler; in one incident, a technician servicing the boiler sustained a broken jaw.

The recalled boilers include NTI brand FTVN and TFTN model series, which are gray, and HTP brand EFTU (Elite Fire Tube Ultra) model series, which are black. The boilers are metal, rectangular units with either NTI or HTP printed on the front, and the model and serial number are on the rating plate on the left-hand side.

They were sold nationwide by independent heating and plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors from May 2021 through July 2026 for between $3,200 and $7,700. The boilers were made in Canada and imported by Ariston Thermo USA LLC, of Providence, Rhode Island.

Consumers should stop using the recalled boilers immediately and contact Ariston to schedule a free repair by a certified technician. Consumers who must continue using the boiler while awaiting repair should have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes.
