What happened
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on July 9, 2026, that Ningbo Moyumaoyi Co. Ltd., dba BBRKIN, is recalling BBRKIN and MouTec Biometric Firearm Safes because the biometric lock can be opened by unauthorized users, posing a serious injury hazard and risk of death. No incidents have been reported.
The recall involves gray steel safes with model number QHXP029B, measuring about 14 inches by 12 inches by 57 inches, with one shelf, and can store approximately five firearms. The brand name "MouTec" or "BBRKIN" is on the upper right corner of the front of the safes.
The safes were imported by Jomani International Inc., of Monterey Park, California, and distributed by Ningbo Moyumaoyi Co. Ltd., dba BBRKIN, of China. They were sold online at Amazon.com from March 2020 through February 2024 for between $260 and $409. The recalled safes have a serial number range of SQC200034980 - SQC202319171, on a label on the lower right corner of the front of the safes.
Consumers should immediately stop using the biometric feature of the recalled safe, remove the batteries, and only use the key when storing firearms. The remedy is to contact BBRKIN to receive a free repair kit.
