Zimtown Portable Gas and Fuel Cans have a closure that is not child-resistant, posing a risk of burns and poisoning to children.

Summary by Recall Canary from the CPSC notice

What happened

Fastbuy Inc., dba Zimtown, of Metuchen, New Jersey, is recalling Zimtown Portable Gas and Fuel Cans because the fuel containers violate the requirement for closures under the Children's Gasoline Burn Prevention Act, as the closure is not child-resistant, posing a risk of burns and poisoning to children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on August 13, 2026, and no incidents have been reported. About 200 units are affected.

The recalled Zimtown Portable "Jerry" style Gas and Fuel Cans with spout are metal 5.0 gallon (20L) fuel cans in red and army green, with a white spout and yellow vent cap. The assembled product dimensions are 4.76 x 8.49 x 19.29 inches. They were sold online at Walmart.com and Zimtown.com from May 2026 through July 2026 for between $32 and $63, and were made in China.

Consumers should stop using the gas and fuel containers immediately and contact Fastbuy for a full refund. Consumers should disassemble the spout, cut it into pieces with scissors, and dispose of it separately from the container.
