What happened

Generac Power Systems Inc. has reannounced and expanded the recall of DR Power Equipment walk-behind and tow-behind leaf vacuums due to a laceration hazard. Pieces from the recalled leaf vacuums can come loose inside the unit, or debris can pierce the chute, resulting in material ejecting and posing a laceration hazard to users and bystanders.

The firm has received 46 reports of loose pieces being ejected from the units, but no injuries have been reported. The recall involves about 60,250 units in the United States and about 1,023 units sold in Canada, and it expands on a previous recall of 57,200 leaf blowers and vacuums announced in May 2024, with new models added.

The recalled products are DR Power Equipment walk-behind leaf vacuums and tow-behind leaf vacuums with model numbers including WL33006DMN, WL35008DENSD, LL3, LL31027DMN, and other models listed in the recall. The vacuums were sold at independent power equipment stores nationwide and online at drpower.com from September 2014 through June 2025 for between $1,300 and $4,000. The units were made in the United States and distributed by DR Power Equipment, of South Burlington, Vermont.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled leaf vacuums and contact DR Power for a free repair kit that includes a metal outer shield to be bolted onto the existing chute of the recalled leaf vacuums and installation instructions. Consumers who responded to the original recall should nevertheless contact DR Power for the new remedy. The remedy offered is a repair.
