What happened

Generac Power Systems is recalling certain Generac Portable Generators due to a risk of serious injury or death from burn and fire hazards. When first filling the recalled generator with gasoline, fuel can leak from the carburetor. The firm has received 114 reports of generator fuel leaks, and no injuries have been reported. About 149,400 units were sold in the United States, and about 260 were sold in Canada.

The recalled generators have an orange/black cover and are encased in a steel-tube cradle, with two wheels on the back. 'Generac' and the 'unit type' are located on the side panel, and the model and serial number are printed on a label attached to the side. The generators were sold at Home Depot, Lowe's and other home improvement and hardware stores nationwide and online from May 2025 through February 2026 for between $600 and $1,300. They were made in Vietnam.

Consumers with generators that have previously been filled with enough gasoline to move the gauge off 'E,' or have been used without any gasoline leakage, can continue to be used. For units included in the recall that have not yet been filled with fuel or exhibited leakage after fueling, the remedy is a free repair at the dealer's location.
