Spector & Co., of Saint Laurent, Quebec, Canada, is recalling the Super Off-Road 12,000 mAh Solar Wireless Power Banks because the lithium-ion battery can swell and overheat, posing a burn hazard. The firm has received two reports of the battery swelling, and no injuries have been reported. About 7,400 units were sold in the United States, with about 4,964 additional units sold in Canada.
The power banks, made in China, were given away as promotional items by various companies from January 2019 through December 2023. The recalled product is black, measures about 3.4 inches wide by 6.5 inches high, and has solar charging capability for wireless device charging.
Consumers should dispose of the recalled lithium-ion battery or device according to local and state regulations, as it presents a greater risk of fire and must not be thrown in the trash, general recycling, or used battery recycling boxes. The refund will be in the form of a check which will be mailed to consumers.
