What happened

The product may be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli or Salmonella. These bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported.

  1. Consumers who believe they may have received affected lots of the Alfalfa Sprouts should immediately dispose of them and should carefully clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that the product may have touched.
  2. Retailers and distributors who believe they have received affected lots of Alfalfa Sprouts should immediately stop selling and distributing the Alfalfa Sprouts in inventory.
  3. Dispose of them according to local protocols.
