What happened

Utz Quality Foods, LLC, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, is recalling certain limited varieties of Zapp's and Dirty potato chips because of the potential presence of Salmonella. The recall was announced on May 4, 2026, and follows notification to Utz that a seasoning containing dry milk powder was the cause.

The recalled products were distributed to Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont and Wisconsin.

The affected items include Dirty Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chips, Dirty Brand Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips, Zapp's Bayou Blackened Ranch Kettle Chips, Dirty Maui Onion Chip, Zapp's Big Cheezy Potato Chips, and Zapp's Brand Bayou Blackened Ranch Potato Chips.
