What happened

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain engine block heaters sold as accessory parts for certain 2013-2019 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in. An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

The recall affects 2,633 units nationwide and was reported to NHTSA on January 15, 2026. Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until their vehicle is remedied. Dealers will contact customers with instructions to return the part for a full refund or dealers will replace the block heater once a newly designed part is available, free of charge.
