What happened

Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2026-2027 Wildwood and Salem travel trailers because the Federal Placard may have the incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims - Other than Passenger Cars."

Referencing the incorrect GVWR may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall was reported to NHTSA on July 8, 2026, and affects 18 vehicles nationwide.

The remedy is that dealers will install a new corrected label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 22, 2026.
