What happened

The Heil Co. (Heil) is recalling certain 2025-2026 side loader garbage trucks equipped with certain HH Technologies ReVamp high voltage cabinets. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, water may enter an improperly sealed high voltage cabinet and cause component failure or a short circuit. Electrical component failure may lead to an unexpected vehicle shutdown, increasing the risk of a crash, and an electrical short increases the risk of a fire.

The recall affects 7 vehicles nationwide. The problem was reported to NHTSA on July 22, 2026, and owner notification letters were mailed July 28, 2026. Heil will install a protective enclosure, free of charge.
