What happened

Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain JATCO transaxle assembly automatic transmissions. An internal hardware failure within the control valve assembly's inhibitor switch may cause the instrument panel to improperly display the transmission gear shifter indicator.

These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." The recall was reported to NHTSA on June 30, 2026, and affects 42 units nationwide.

Dealers will inspect and replace the transmission control valve assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 31, 2026.
