What happened

Prevost Car (US) Inc. is recalling certain Prevost H3-45 buses from model years 1992 through 2023 because the entrance door is missing the emergency exit operating instruction label. As a result, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."

Missing instructions may prevent or delay passengers from evacuating the bus during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. The recall affects 7,509 vehicles nationwide.

The issue was reported to NHTSA on October 15, 2026. Prevost will replace the emergency exit label, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 7, 2026.
