What happened

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain rear combination light assemblies sold as replacement parts for Toyota bZ4X vehicles. The rear combination light assemblies may be equipped with a side marker reflector instead of a side marker light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, 'Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.'

The recall was reported to NHTSA on January 23, 2026, and the assemblies were distributed nationwide. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2026. Dealers will inspect and replace the rear combination light assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TK01 and 26TH01.
