Starfish Seafood Trio – Cold Smoked Salmon, Halibut, Trout

Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc. of Brooklyn, New York, is voluntarily recalling Starfish Seafood Trio – Cold Smoked Salmon, Halibut, and Trout, 8 oz (227 g) packages, because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled product is identified as Starfish Seafood Trio – Cold Smoked Salmon, Halibut, Trout, brand Starfish, net weight 8 oz (227 g), vacuum-sealed plastic package, with expiration date 12/01/2027 and country of origin Latvia. The potential contamination was identified by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product. Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc., a wholesale distributor that did not manufacture the product, has notified its affected customers and requested that they immediately discontinue the sale and distribution of the recalled product.
