What happened

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2024-2026 Mustang vehicles because the engine compartment wiring harness ground connections may fracture, resulting in a loss of drive power, or a loss of function in the windshield washing system, headlights, air conditioning, or engine cooling fan. This failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 108 and 104 increases the risk of a crash. The recall affects 148,663 vehicles nationwide.

The condition was reported to NHTSA on August 25, 2026. Dealers will replace the engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed September 5, 2026, and additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in March 2027.
