What happened
Altec Industries, Inc. is recalling certain 2013-2025 AP45A trucks because the boom stow switch wire in the cargo storage area may become damaged, which can result in a short circuit, causing the wire to overheat. An overheated wire can ignite flammable material in the cargo area, increasing the risk of fire. The recall affects 884 vehicles nationwide and was reported to NHTSA on July 16, 2026.
The problem involves the electrical system component. Altec will instruct owners to inspect their vehicle and, if the wire is not protected, order a kit that includes a bolt on guard to protect the wires, free of charge. Letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 11, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available.
