Ford F-150 Shift Lever
Ford is recalling 2018 F-150 vehicles due to a shift lever defect that may cause unintended gear selection and unexpected vehicle movement.
Owners should contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the transmission shift cable clip inspected and, if necessary, properly installed free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
Why it was recalled
Ford is recalling certain 2018 F-150 vehicles that were previously repaired incorrectly under a prior recall. The shift lever may fail to properly indicate the selected gear when moved from Park to Drive, potentially resulting in the selection of an unintended gear such as Reverse or Neutral. This issue can cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. The recall was distributed nationwide.
