The week in recalls
Heating pads that can burn, and a spice mix that hides wheat and sesame, made for a serious stretch of recalls. Cars and medical devices filled the rest.
Recall CanaryUpdated
Let's look at what got recalled this week. There were 68 recalls in all, and they were mostly cars, medical devices and food. The ones that matter most are a heating pad that can burn you and a spice mix that hides allergens, so let's start there.
The Handy Solutions Neck & Shoulders Heating Pad is the one to check first. If you fold it while it is plugged in, or lie on top of it, the heat builds up in one spot and the pad's safety cut-off cannot sense it, so it keeps getting hotter. That can melt or burn the pad and burn you or your things. It was sold in several states and rated high risk. If you have one, stop using it and follow the recall instructions.
Two spice blends are worth a minute because of allergens. Dreamland's Zaatar Chickpea Salad contains sesame, soy and wheat that are not listed on the label, and MID East Jordanian Zaatar Spice Mix has sesame and wheat that are not declared. Both were rated high risk. If you have a wheat or sesame allergy, check your cupboard and do not eat these.
On the road, Lincoln Navigator, Nautilus, Aviator and Explorer vehicles may lose the rearview camera image and some driver assistance features, which makes it harder to spot hazards behind you. If you drive one, watch for the recall notice and get the software fixed. The full list below has every recall from the week, so take a look and see if anything you own is on it.
