The week in recalls
Serious safety notices led the list, with a compounding pharmacy's sterile injections and a steering defect that can take away control of a car. Both are worth a careful look.
Recall CanaryUpdated
Here's the recall roundup for the week. Sixty-three recalls were listed, and most were vehicle and medical device notices. The ones that matter most involve injections that may not be sterile and a steering problem that can make a car hard to control, so let's start there.
Centric Compounding is recalling Centric Compounding Glutathione, Myers Cocktail and Tri-Immune Boost Injections because the glutathione ingredient used to make them had elevated endotoxin levels, a sign the injections may not be sterile. Endotoxin can cause fever, chills and shock if it gets into the bloodstream, and people who received these injections should contact their healthcare provider if they feel unwell. This is a high risk recall, and the products were sold nationwide.
Volkswagen is recalling Volkswagen Audi Q3, Atlas, and Tiguan Vehicles because a bolt that holds the steering rack can corrode and break, letting the rack housing fail and causing a loss of steering control. More than two hundred thousand vehicles are involved, and owners should watch for any change in steering feel and have the work done promptly.
Two other recalls are worth a minute. StatStrip Glucose Meters can keep an old barcode on screen, so a glucose reading may be filed under the wrong patient, which matters in hospitals and clinics. International Specialty Supply Alfalfa may be contaminated with E. coli and Salmonella, so check any sprouts you have at home and throw them out if they match. The full list below has the rest.
