The week in recalls
A cream that may carry a skin infection and trail mix that may carry Salmonella led a week heavy on food and medical devices. The recalls worth your attention are the ones tied to what you put in your body.
Recall CanaryUpdated
Here's what got recalled this week. There were 81 recalls in all, and most of them were food and medical devices. A few stand out because of what could go wrong, so let's start there.
The one to know about is MG217 Multi-Symptom Treatment Cream, a skin cream that testing found contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium that can cause infections. The company calls this a high risk. If you have this cream at home, stop using it and check the recall notice for what to do next. Anyone with broken skin or a weakened immune system should pay particular attention.
Two other recalls are worth a minute. California Dairies Non-Fat Dried Milk and Buttermilk Powders may also carry Salmonella, and these powders go into plenty of home baking and cooking. And certain Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles have a missing drivetrain part that can lock the wheels, with a do not drive warning. If yours is affected, park it and contact your dealer.
