Week of May 11–17, 2026
The week in recalls
A heavy week for medical devices and vehicles, with a handful of food recalls worth a second look. The most serious involve a blood-thinning drug that may contain glass and a smoked fish that may carry botulism.
Recall CanaryUpdated
Let's look at what got recalled this week. There were 66 recalls across food, drugs, medical devices, vehicles, and consumer products. Most were medical devices and vehicles, but a few food and drug recalls matter more. Starting with a drug that may contain glass particles.
Sun Pharmaceutical's Doxorubicin Hydrochloride Liposome Injection is a high-risk recall because the medicine may contain glass particles. If injected, those particles can irritate veins, cause swelling, block blood vessels, or lead to clots that can be very serious. This is a cancer treatment given in hospitals, so patients should not stop treatment on their own. If you receive this drug, ask your care team whether your dose came from the affected lot.
Two food recalls also stand out. Hellas Meze Golden Smoked Whole Herring may be contaminated with the bacteria that cause botulism, a serious illness that can affect breathing. If you have this herring, do not eat it. And Kroger Homestyle Cheese and Garlic Croutons may be contaminated with Salmonella, which can cause fever, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. Check your pantry and throw them away if you find them.
For drivers, Hyundai Elantra Hybrid vehicles from certain model years may have a power control unit that can overheat, raising the risk of a fire. If you own one, watch for warning lights and have it checked. That is the week. You can find the full list below.
