Week of May 18–24, 2026
The week in recalls
A heavy week for vehicles, with air bag and braking software problems affecting many cars, plus a soup that hid shellfish and a pet food tied to Listeria.
Recall CanaryUpdated
Here's the recall roundup for the week. Sixty-nine recalls were listed, and many of them were cars and other vehicles, with air bag and braking software problems standing out. Several of those deserve a closer look, so let's start there.
Honda is recalling 98,892 vehicles, including the Acura MDX and other models, because the front passenger seat weight sensor can crack and short circuit. That can make the air bag deploy when it should not during a crash. If you own one of these cars, watch for a notice from Honda and get the sensor checked. Chrysler is also recalling the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L for a software error that may delay side air bag deployment in a crash. Hyundai's Santa Cruz and Tucson models may have front camera software that causes the forward collision system to brake unexpectedly.
In food, Whole Foods Market Kitchens Minestrone Soup contains undeclared shrimp, which matters for anyone with a shellfish allergy. The soup was sold in 18 states. And a frozen raw pet food, My Pet Carnivore and The Butcher's Hound, may be contaminated with Listeria, a high risk for pets and the people who handle it.
If you have any of these products, check the recall notice for what to do next. The full list is below, with details on each one.
